Rural Kansas, 1957. A farmer-turned-preacher searches for inspiration, his wife for hope, and their daughter for a sense of stability. When a seeming miracle turns their makeshift church on its head, young Ida follows her parents across the state as they spread the word of their newfound convictions. But when the miracles begin to multiply, and the demand for spiritual healing grows faster than anyone expected, Ida must confront the cost of deeds done to inspire faith.


Bios

Majkin Holmquist is a playwright originally from the Smoky Valley region in central Kansas where she was co-founder of The Next Stage Theatre Company. Her plays include Every Anne Frank, Tent Revival, two-headed calf, Quickmatch, The Dog Pack Play, Stargazers, and Skinflint. Other credits include The Quonsets (co-written with Alex Lubischer, Yale Cabaret), Broken Melodies (WVIT Women in Theatre Festival), and Styx Songs (contributing writer, Yale Cabaret). Her work has been developed at New York Stage and Film, Woodshed Collective, Bay Street Theatre, Page 73, Ucross, and Roundabout Theatre Company. She has been a finalist for the P73 Playwright’s Fellowship, Colt Coeur, the Pacific Playwright’s Festival, and PlayPenn. She is currently a member of Midnight Oil Collective and a Lecturer in Playwriting at the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale. She holds a BA in Secondary English Education from Bethany College and an MFA in Playwriting from the Yale School of Drama.

Teddy Bergman is a Drama Desk nominated director and actor. As Artistic Director of Woodshed Collective, he’s co-conceived and directed productions including the critically acclaimed Empire Travel Agency (NYTimes Critics Pick, TimeOutNY Critic’s Pick, Guardian’s Ten Best of the Year) and the award winning, Broadway musical KPOP (Lucille Lortel Winner for Outstanding Musical, Richard Rodgers Award Winner from the American Academy of Arts and Letters). His directing work has also been seen at The Public Theater, Roundabout, Williamstown, NYSAF, New York Theatre Workshop, Manhattan Theater Club, Ars Nova, Ma-Yi Theater Company, Williamstown Theater Festival, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Portland Center Stage, Bay Street Theater, Primary Stages, Space on Ryder Farm, Clubbed Thumb, and Rattlestick Playwrights Theater. He has also completed an immersive commission from the Public Theater and directed Canadian pop stars Tegan and Sara’s autobiographical tour Hey, I’m Just Like You - inspired by their memoir. He is currently creating and directing a new immersive event for Emursive, producers of Sleep No More.  As an actor he has appeared on stage in shows including the Tony award winning PETER AND THE STARCATHER and on screen in roles including Amazon studios Good Girls Revolt. Vassar College alum where he graduated with honors in philosophy and received the Vernon Vable prize.

Lisa Joyce Best known as Frieda in HBO's Insecure, Lisa has worked as an actor for almost two decades. She currently lives in Northern California with her husband and their wonderful cat.

Amy Staats is an actor, writer, producer, and a 2018 Tow Playwright in Residence through the Atlantic Theater Company. The world premiere of her play EDDIE AND DAVE had an extended run off-Broadway at the Atlantic Theater, and co-starred Amy in the role of “Eddie Van Halen.” Other acting credits include MILES FOR MARY (created by the Mad Ones, directed by Lila Neugebauer; performed at Bushwick Starr, Playwrights Horizons), SWEAT (directed by Tamilla Woodard, performed at The Guthrie Theatre), and THE LAST CLASS, A JAZZERCIZE PLAY, directed by Margot Bordelon; performed at Theaterlab, ACT, The Exponential Festival and The Klunch. She’s a resident artist at Berkeley Rep’s Groundfloor and SPACE on Ryder Farm and a semi-finalist at Sundance Theater Lab. TV/FILM work includes FBI Most Wanted (multiple roles), Bull (recurring), and Late Night with Stephen Colbert. Her gymnastics sports dramedy/thriller DEFECTED is in development with Olivia Wingate (MO Studios) and Wren Arthur (Olive Productions).
